Establishment of Green Mekong Environment Joint Stock Company started from the situation of environmental problems related to the economic growth in Vietnam. In recent years, economy in Vietnam has taken a significant leap, with the high annual economic growth rate and has been gradually changing from primary sector to secondary and tertiary sector, especially the increase of proportion in processing and manufacturing industry. Moreover, Vietnam became 150th member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which would open up opportunities and challenges for the economy in Vietnam in the future.

However, the higher the economic growth is, the worse the environment is in Vietnam due to a variety of industrial activities, leading to the result that the environmental situation in Vietnam is at the alarming rate, greatly affecting public health. 

To make more sustainable development with the increase of economic growth, focusing on environmental protection is necessary so the State has to take stricter environmental management measures and lots of manufacturers need to have more professional department in environmental management simultaneously.

Green Mekong Environment Joint Stock Company is the working place where the employees as colleagues and brothers gathering to study and work together, who were well-trained undergraduate students in environmental majors from the top universities in the South of Vietnam. The employees share the same thought with also the same perception and action that are how to make the environment and our life more beautiful, greener and cleaner, leading to the decision of forming an organization, of which the functions of environmental protection and improvement to contribute a small part of efforts to sustainable development in Vietnam.
